General Questions

  • Renting a trailer from our business is a straightforward process. Start by browsing our trailer inventory, which includes various types such as utility trailers, enclosed trailers, and more. Once you've selected the trailer that suits your needs, specify your desired rental period and provide the necessary information. We'll prepare the trailer for pickup at a designated location. You can also choose any additional accessories or equipment you might need for your towing requirements. When your rental period is complete, return the trailer to our pickup location, and we'll ensure it's properly maintained for the next renter.

If you are unsure of what you need, feel free to contact us directly and we can help you figure out what you need!

  • To rent a trailer you must meet the following requirements:

    1) Renter must be over the age of 18

    2) Renter must have a valid driver's license

    3) Renter must provide proof of insurance for the vehicle that will be towing the trailer

Other specifics of the rental are detailed in our Commercial Rental Agreement.

  • You do not need your own ball mount—we have ball mounts available to rent for a flat fee. However, your vehicle must be equipped with a hitch receiver before pickup.

If our ball mount doesn’t fit your receiver, we also offer reducer sleeves to ensure compatibility and a proper towing setup.

  • Nomad Trailer Rental offers a variety of trailers designed to handle nearly any hauling need. Our fleet includes utility trailers, car haulers, and equipment trailers, with plans to expand into enclosed, dump, and specialty trailers in the near future.

We’re always looking to grow based on our customers’ needs—if you need a trailer type we don’t currently carry, please let us know. We’re happy to explore adding it to our lineup or helping you find a suitable option.

  • We currently do not offer one-way rentals as a standard option. However, depending on your situation and needs, we may be able to accommodate the request. Additional charges will apply. Please contact us by phone or email to discuss your specific needs and we’ll do our best to assist.

Payments and Deposits

  • The security deposit helps protect both you and Nomad Trailer Rental throughout your rental.

    • For you: The deposit ensures your reservation and guarantees that your trailer and included equipment are ready, clean, and in reliable working order when you arrive. Once the trailer is returned on time and in the same condition, your deposit is fully refunded—typically within 1–3 business days, depending on your bank.
    • For us: The deposit helps cover the cost of any unexpected damage, missing equipment, or late returns. This allows us to keep our trailers in excellent condition and our rental prices fair for everyone.

We never charge or withhold a deposit without clear documentation. The full amount is automatically released once the return inspection is complete.

  • Our preferred payment method is through our website using Stripe, which securely processes all major credit and debit cards. We also accept Venmo, cash, cashier’s checks, and money orders.

For payments not made by credit card, an additional refundable deposit may be required for security purposes. Please contact us if you have any questions about payment options before your rental begins.

  • Cancellations made at least 48 hours before pickup receive a full refund.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup may be subject to a cancellation fee equal to one day’s rental rate or 25% of the total reservation cost, whichever is greater.

Exceptions may be made for severe weather or genuine emergencies—please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel.

If you need to make changes to your reservation, reach out right away so we can do our best to accommodate your updated needs. All changes are subject to trailer and equipment availability. The earlier you contact us, the more likely we can adjust your reservation to fit your schedule.

We understand that plans change, and we always aim to be as flexible as possible while keeping our trailers available for other renters.

Pickup, Use, and Return

  • Your safety comes first—pull over to a safe location before inspecting the trailer.

All Nomad Trailer Rental trailers come equipped with a spare tire and tire-changing kit. You may replace the flat tire yourself if you feel comfortable doing so.

If you’re unable to safely change the tire, or if additional assistance is needed, please contact us right away. We can help coordinate roadside assistance or provide further instructions.

Please also notify us as soon as possible about any flat tire or mechanical issue, even if you were able to replace it with the spare. This allows us to document the incident and ensure the trailer is fully serviced before its next rental.

  • Yes, you can extend the rental period for a trailer if you require it for a longer duration than initially planned. To do so, please contact our team to discuss your needs and arrange for an extension. We will work with you to update the rental terms and ensure the continued availability of the trailer. Keep in mind that trailer availability may vary, so it's best to notify us about your extension needs as early as possible to secure the equipment. We're committed to accommodating your changing towing requirements.

  • Please bring the following items when you arrive for your rental:

    • A valid driver’s license
    • Your proof of insurance
    • Your towing vehicle
    • Payment if it hasn’t already been completed online
    • Towing equipment (such as a hitch or ball mount) if not supplied with your rental
    • The credit or debit card you are placing on file for the deposit

Having these items ready helps us get you on the road quickly and ensures a smooth pickup process.

  • If you return your rental after the scheduled return time, additional charges may apply. Late returns can affect other customers’ reservations, so please contact us as soon as you know you’ll be delayed.

Per the rental agreement, late fees are calculated based on the daily rental rate and any applicable taxes or fees. In some cases, a 5% late payment fee may also apply.

If you anticipate being late, call or email us before your return time—when possible, we’ll work with you to extend your rental to avoid additional charges.

  • Please return the trailer to the location and time listed in your rental agreement. The trailer should be in the same clean and undamaged condition as when it was rented, with all included equipment (ramps, straps, winch, etc.) properly stowed.

If you return the trailer after normal business hours, you remain responsible for its safety and condition until we inspect it the next business day.

To help us check in your rental quickly, make sure all debris and personal items are removed, and notify us if there were any issues during your trip.

  • For safety and insurance reasons, only the renter (Lessee) and any Authorized Operators listed on your rental agreement may tow or operate the trailer. Allowing anyone not listed as an Authorized Operator to tow the trailer is a violation of the rental agreement and may make you fully responsible for any damage, loss, or liability that occurs.

If you need someone else to tow or assist with transport, please contact us before your pickup date so we can review and approve them as an Authorized Operator.

Insurance and Liability Questions

  • In most cases, your existing auto insurance policy will extend liability coverage to a rented trailer while it’s attached to your insured vehicle. However, coverage for damage to the trailer itself—including collision, theft, or vandalism—can vary depending on your individual policy.

As required by our rental agreement, you must contact your insurance agent prior to your rental to confirm what your policy covers and ensure that your liability and property damage coverage applies to towing a rented trailer. You’ll also need to provide proof of insurance at the time of pickup.

If you’re unsure what’s covered, your agent can quickly confirm your liability limits and whether additional coverage is recommended.

  • We do not currently offer supplemental insurance or damage waiver options.

All renters are required to maintain their own auto insurance coverage that extends to rented trailers, as outlined in the rental agreement. Your policy should include liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage while towing the trailer.

We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your rental to confirm what coverage applies and whether any temporary or short-term endorsements are available.

  • As stated in your rental agreement, renters are responsible for all damage to, loss, or theft of the trailer during the rental period, regardless of fault. This includes damage caused by weather, road conditions, or accidents.

If the trailer is damaged or stolen, you must:

    1. Immediately report the incident to the police and obtain a report number.
    2. Notify Nomad Trailer Rental within 24 hours so we can begin documentation and guide you through next steps.

You may be responsible for the cost of repairs or the trailer’s full replacement value if it cannot be repaired. Additional related charges—such as Loss of Use, Diminished Value, or administrative fees—may also apply as outlined in your agreement.

Your security deposit may be used to cover these costs, and any remaining balance would be billed separately.

  • Your safety comes first. If you are involved in a crash while using one of our trailers, please take the following steps immediately:

    1. Ensure everyone’s safety. Move to a safe location if possible and check for injuries.
    2. Contact law enforcement right away. A police report is required for any collision involving a rented trailer.
    3. Notify Nomad Trailer Rental as soon as possible. Call or email us immediately after contacting police so we can document the incident and provide guidance on next steps.
    4. Do not move or repair the trailer until instructed, unless it is necessary for safety or to prevent further damage.
    5. Attempt to gather information. If possible, try to get the other parties name, phone number, and insurance information. Ensure you get a case number from whichever Police Department is working the crash/accident investigation. Try to take photos of all vehicles involved including license plates and damages.

Prompt reporting protects both you and us by ensuring that all information is properly documented for insurance and liability purposes.

  • If you encounter any issues or damages to the rented trailer during your use, please notify us promptly. We understand that unexpected situations can arise. Depending on the nature and extent of the issue or damage, we will assess and determine the necessary course of action. You may be responsible for repair or replacement costs, so it's advisable to review our rental agreement for specific terms and conditions related to trailer damages. Your prompt communication is appreciated, as it helps us maintain the quality of our rental equipment.

  • Yes. All of our trailers come equipped with basic loading and tie-down equipment to make your rental as convenient as possible.

Most trailer options include ramps, axle straps, and ratchet straps at no additional cost. Many of our trailers also come with a battery-powered winch for easier vehicle or equipment loading.

  • Load capacities vary depending on the trailer model. Each trailer has its specific weight rating (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, or GVWR) listed on its data plate and on its product page in our online catalog.

Before loading, please check the trailer’s individual specifications to ensure your load does not exceed the rated capacity. If you’re unsure which trailer best fits your needs, contact us — we’ll be glad to help you choose the safest and most suitable option for your hauling requirements.
